Pick devices from your analytics

A three-tier matrix works for most products: newest flagship, the most common mid-range device in your user base, and the oldest OS version you still support. Emulators are for fast feedback, real devices for release gates.

Gestures need explicit intent

Swipe, scroll-into-view and long press are not implicit in mobile drivers the way clicks are on the web. Wrap them in helpers so tests read as behaviour and not coordinates.

Handle the platform interruptions

Permission dialogs, biometric prompts, network transitions and app backgrounding cause more mobile flakiness than locators. Automate them as explicit steps in the test setup instead of hoping they do not appear.
